Animal Resources

The Animal Resources Directorate elaborates and monitors policies, strategies, guidelines and instructions aimed at improving animal resources in the country and also monitors the implementation of key Government programs in animal resources.

The Directorate General of Animal Resources elaborates and monitors policies, strategies, guidelines and instructions aimed at improving animal resources in the country.

 

Specifically, the Directorate monitors the implementation of the following special Government programmes:

 

  • Oversee the implementation of the Livestock Master plan [2017/18-2021/22;
  • Milk drinking campaign to fight malnutrition;
  • One Cup of milk per child in schools;
  • Monitoring and finding solutions to different farmer’s concerns
  • Programs for improving animal production i.e:
  • Genetic improvement programs aimed at increasing animal products;
  • Implementation of the dairy strategy;
  • Implementation of meat strategy;
  • Promotion of small stock in the country (Sheep, goats, pigs and rabbits);
  • Programs for promotion of poultry;
  • Programs for promotion of beekeeping;
  • Implementation of the fish master plan.
