New Minister of State Dr Jean-Chrysostome Ngabitsinze swears in
Dr Jean-Chrysostome Ngabitsinze, the new Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), swore in on June 1, 2020. The ceremony took place in the Office of the President, Village Urugwiro, where other officials who were recently appointed also took oath of office.
Following the swearing in ceremony, the new Minister of State thanked the Head of State for entrusting him with responsibility to serve Rwandans.
“I cannot find right words to use, even in these hard moments you have found time for us, from the bottom of my heart, thank you again Your Excellency Paul Kagame. God bless you and bless Rwanda. Imihigo irakomeje kandi irashoboka,” Dr Ngabitsinze wrote on his Twitter account.
Dr. Ngabitsinze was appointed the Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources on March 09, 2020. Prior to being appointed as a Minister of State, he was a Member of Parliament chairing the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) since 2018.
Previously, he was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Rwanda for over 10 years, where he taught agricultural economics and agribusiness among other courses, and from December 2018, he was promoted to Associate Professor. Besides teaching and political work, he has served on various boards of government agencies. In 2016, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) for two years and in the same year 2016, was elected chairperson of Huye District Council. Prior to that, he chaired the National Land Commission under the Ministry of Natural Resources for three years.
Ngabitsinze has a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Doctoral School of Technological Innovation in Agri-food and Environmental Sciences from Milan State University, a Master's degree in Economics from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Economics from Ca' Foscari University of Venice in Italy.
