FRONTLINE EXTENSION AGENTS UPGRADE KNOWLEDGE IN PREPARATION FOR AGRICULTURE SEASON 2020A
As part of preparation activities for the agricultural season 2020A, frontline extension agents across the country are undergoing seasonal training on best farming practices to ensure increased farm productivity
The seasonal training, which is taking place during the entire month of August 2019, is targeting 17,370 front-line extension Agents including 13,000 the Farmer Promoters, 2,000 Farmer Field Schools facilitators, 2,000 Social Economic Development Officers and 370 Sector Agronomists.
After completing the training, frontline extension agents will in turn train farmers in their village-based groups in September while kicking off the seasonal planting. It will be conducted under the supervision of Rwanda Agriculture Development Board (RAB) and One Acre Fund-Tubura in partnership with local government entities for the better implementation of technologies and services delivery to the farming community.
For this season 2020A, according to RAB, the target is to reach out to 750,000 farmers with extension services delivery while by the end of the year, 1,000,000 farmers are expected to have been served with the extension services.
