RWANDA AND IFPRI SIGN MOU TO ENHANCE CAPACITY FOR POLICY ANALYSIS
On November 28, 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together to enhance MINAGRI’s capacity for evidence-based policy analysis, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
The purpose of this MOU is to set forth an agreement between MINAGRI and IFPRI to work together to enhance MINAGRI’s capacity for evidence-based policy analysis, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation through the:
• Using IFPRI expertise to help meet analytical and knowledge needs of MINAGRI in the design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of evidence-based policies and programs;
• Developing in partnership with local centers of expertise, a set of state-of-the art tools, methodologies, and data infrastructure for policy analysis and evaluation; and
• Building and strengthening the necessary capacities within MINAGRI to use the above evidence-based analysis, knowledge, tools, methodologies, and data to sustainably meet the future analytical and knowledge demand of MINAGRI.
The MoU was signed by Dr Gerardine Mukeshimana, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, and Dr. Shenggen Fan, Director General of the IFPRI, and witnessed by Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente, on the sidelines of the global event on Accelerating the End of Hunger and Malnutrition that is taking place from the 28th to 30th November 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.
